We custom design each sheath to fit our customer's gear. We can make this sheath with as many pockets and flaps as you need. Listed here are options for two or three pockets, and with one, two, or three flaps over the pockets, or with no flaps over the pockets, so please let us know your gear needs. Currently pictured in the listing photo is the three pocket plus one flap version of this bison sheath. Some other photos also show a bison wallet and bison belt, just in case you are looking for a matching set, we would love to make it for you.
This custom handmade American Bison Leather Sheath is really two sheaths in one. The inner sheath is cow hide which is wetformed to take on the shape of the compartments. The bison hide is then glued and hand stitched to the cow hide. It is a lot of work, but it comes out beautiful! Bison hide is amazing! It is 40% stronger than cow hide. But it is also softer, so it makes great bags, chaps, shirts, and the like, but to hold a stiff shape over time, such as for compartments, bison hide needs to be used in combination with cow hide. Most folks love bison leather sheaths, as it is truly an amazing leather like no other.
This sheath can be customized for your multitool and flashlight every day carry. We can make this sheath to fit all kinds of multitools (Letherman, Gerber, Victorinox, etc) and flashlights (Maglight Mini, Olight, Streamlight, Penlights, and other Flashlights) as well as other gear such as folding knives (Case, Buck, Victorinox, Gerber, Buck 110, Buck 112, etc), knife sharpeners, or extenders for multitool, wrenches, ratchets, pliers, Knipex Cobra Pliers, electronic tweezers and tools, etc.
This sheath comes standard with a flap cover and metal snap on the multi tool compartment. Please let us know if you do not want that flap cover and snap, and we will leave it off for you. Please let us know if you would like additional flap covers on any of the other compartments (pockets), and if you need additional compartments (pockets) added to what we currently offer. The additions will be upgrades to the current pricing. Also some compartments can be closed at the bottom or left open at the bottom if you have longer or shorter gear or plan to use a clip to secure it to the leather, just let us know what you need. Because we customize each sheath, we can tweak our designs as needed. Please let us know what you need.
This sheath is part of our USA Bison Ranch series line of products. Shown at the end of these photos are the bison belt and bison wallet made with this same leather. More to come! This bison hide is veg tanned and pre-stained in brown only. The bison hide is thicker and 40% stronger than veg tan cow hide. Though it is much thicker, this particular bison hide is very soft because of how the bison hide was processed. We use Bison that was fully grown and it's leather is finished in the USA and is Grade A on the Leather Grading System. To get a custom snug fit, we add a layer of veg tan cow leather on the inside of the sheath and wet form the gear to it. To achieve our beautiful sheaths, we hand select the leathers, hand cut the leathers, glue the leathers together, hand stain the cow leather, saddle soap the leather to clean and condition the leathers, hole punch each layer of the sheath, hand stitch the sheath with wax thread, wet form the sheath to the tool dimensions provided to us by the customer, stain and burnish the edges, and beeswax or aussie oil and buff each sheath. We check and recheck our craftsmanship before packaging and shipping the sheath by UPSP Priority Mail to our customer.
Each sheath is unique because the hide and life lived by each animal is unique. Some hides look like there is no imperfections, and some hides tell part of a story of the animals life and they can how scars, bug bites, or even the branding from the ranch and farms they once lived on. Therefore, each sheath varies slightly in the finish and varies in design made to fit the shape of each person's gear. They are each unique each and every time. You can also have us personalize your sheath with additional features.
Just leave a note on your order of what multitool and flashlight you want your sheath customized to. If you don't specify a different flashlight on your order form, the sheath will be made to fit a MiniMaglight. However, if you have a different light you want the sheath made for, or other gear, be sure to let us know.
